Happy Chinese New Year!
If red is your favourite colour, you’re definitely in for a treat with this one… With red being the main colour associated with the Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, you can expect to see streets, buildings, houses and everywhere that is celebrating this festival to be decorated in red, the colour that is believed to be auspicious.
Another recognisable decoration associated with the celebration of Chinese New Year is the Red Chinese lanterns. The Chinese lanterns were first invented during the Eastern Han Dynasty as a source of light, however, over time, they are used less for practicality and more for decoration purposes. Alongside these, you can expect to see hanging red couplets carrying images of prosperity.
