National Days

If you’re a real foodie, the next few days are going to be right up your street…

We all love a good national day right? But we love it ten times more when it’s food related! And this week, we’re really in for a treat. With four, yes you heard right, FOUR National day’s ALL related around food and drink, get ready to celebrate some pretty awesome days.

Let’s start with what we may consider to be the most irresistible day out of the four…

National Chocolate Cake Day 🤤
Monday 27th January

Name a better thing to do with friends other than eat chocolate cake… We’ll wait. Even the man himself, Charles Dickens, once brought to light that “There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate” and he most definitely was not wrong.
When we think of chocolate cake, we think of fundamental parts of our lives, don’t you agree? From blowing out the candles on top of your chocolate birthday cake, to taking the biggest bite out of your slice just after the gender reveal at your besties birthday shower, there are very few life events that don’t involve indulging in chocolate cake. So, it was only right that we added some sort of chocolate cake to our menu. Now let us introduce to you, our Chocolate & Caramel cake. It’s kind of a big deal 🍰 Whether you’re the sharing type, or the “get your own” type, our generous slices of chocolate cake can cater to all!

National Blueberry Pancake Day 🥞
Tuesday 28th January

We’re not quite sure who came up with the idea of putting blueberries on pancakes, but what we do know is that we’re here for it. With blueberry pancakes being served in our Market Place and Brompton Road branch, don’t be waiting to enjoy pancakes  strictly on shrove Tuesday only. It’s pancake day every day with us.

National Croissant Day 🥐
Thursday 30th January

All hail August Zang. Who’s August Zang we hear you ask? Only the guy who created the greatest brunch treat ever… the croissant. Now we know you've probably tried some super delicious croissants in your time. Maybe a pain au chocolat from the boulangerie in Paris, or simply a plain croissant with a dash of strawberry jam from your local cafe across the road. But what we can be certain of, is that you’ve never tasted a Raspberry & Rose croissant quite like ours. Not exactly the flavour you’re looking for? We’ve got you. How about our Pistachio or Chocolate & Hazelnut croissant? Knew that’d get your attention. With our all day brunch menu, you’re guaranteed to get your hands on one of our many flavoured croissants in all EIGHT of our stores.

National Hot Chocolate Day 🍫
Friday 31st January

There was no way we were missing out this national day, possibly the best day of the year celebrating the best drink EVER.
Fun fact - it has been said that hot chocolate may actually be healthy due to the antioxidants that can be found in cocoa. It’s also believed that hot chocolate was first made by the Mayan people in South America, over 2,000 years ago!

Collaborated with cocoa masters, our hot chocolates have all the decadence you desire. Dark, milk, white and Nutella, we have all the flavours for you to enjoy. So come on down and celebrate this day with us. Which ever flavour you choose, we promise you our hot chocolate won’t disappoint.

We sat down with makeup, fashion and everything in between influencer Laila loves to talk on this weeks National Days..

Good morning Laila! Thanks for joining us today. Lets kick it off by finding out which National Day you’re most excited about? National chocolate cake day, blueberry pancake day, croissant day or National hot chocolate day?

Laila: Mmm I would definitely say National Chocolate Cake day.

Where’s the best place you’ve ever had chocolate cake?
Laila: There's really good chocolate cake at the Four Seasons Hotel.

Are you more of a sweet or savoury person?
Laila: I’m definitely more of a sweet person. I'm the sort of person who’d rather have a desert and then dinner. If people say “lets go out for lunch”, I’d be the person to just order desert.

On to National Croissant Day. What flavour croissant are you ordering at EL&N? Pink Rose & Raspberry, Pistachio or Chocolate & Hazelnut?
Laila: Definitely chocolate and hazelnut.

As you know, we have a wide range of hot chocolates on our menu. Which are you going for? Milk, dark, white or Nutella?
Laila: Whenever I visit EL&N, I ALWAYS order the Nutella hot chocolate. It’s really good.

With or without whipped cream and marshmallows?
Laila: 100% with everything that comes with it.
